This 6-day safari offers the opportunity to witness the breathtaking Wildebeest Migration as it moves north, passing through the Lobo area of Serengeti and the Wagakuria area near the Mara River, en route to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve. This migration begins in July and lasts until October, with varying sightings based on the migration pattern.
Depart from Arusha to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After lunch, descend 600 meters into the crater for an afternoon safari. The crater is home to an array of wildlife, including wildebeest, buffalo, elephants, lions, cheetahs, and flamingos at Lake Magadi.
Head to Serengeti National Park, passing through the Lobo area. This area is famous for its wildebeest migration between July and August as they move towards Kenya. Enjoy a game drive in the afternoon.
Full day game drive in the Lobo area where resident wildlife like giraffes, lions, leopards, and cheetahs can be spotted year-round. The area offers great solitude and a true African wilderness experience.
Travel to the northern Serengeti, near the Mara River, famous for the dramatic wildebeest river crossings. Experience the migration in its most intense form as the herds cross the Mara River into Kenya.
Full day game drive in the Wagakuria area, a prime location for witnessing the migration. This area is home to large lion prides and the Mara River, where wildebeest crossings are often observed.
After breakfast, return to Arusha either by road or via a flight from the Kogatende airstrip. The safari concludes with a final meal and overnight stay in Arusha.
