Embark on a 7-day group camping safari to experience Tanzania’s iconic parks, breathtaking landscapes, and rich cultural heritage. This adventure takes you to Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara, ending with a cultural and coffee tour at Materuni Village near Kilimanjaro.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

  • Altitude: ~1,400m
  • Main Activities: Arrival & briefing
  • Accommodation: Budget/Mid-range hotel in Arusha
  • Meals: Dinner

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), your safari guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. After check-in, you’ll have time to relax before a pre-safari briefing, where your guide will explain the itinerary and answer any questions.

Optional Activities (if arriving early):

  • Visit the Cultural Heritage Center or explore Arusha’s local markets.
  • Short visit to Arusha National Park for a game drive.

Enjoy dinner and get a good night’s rest before your safari adventure begins!

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

  • Distance: ~120 km (2–3 hours drive)
  • Main Activities: Full-day game drive
  • Accommodation: Lodge/tented camp in Tarangire
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After breakfast, you will drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herdsancient baobab trees, and the Tarangire River, which attracts a variety of wildlife, especially in the dry season.

Highlights of the day:

  • Elephant Paradise: One of Africa’s largest elephant populations.
  • Predator Sightings: Lions, cheetahs, and leopards roam the park.
  • Unique Baobab Trees: Iconic trees that store water for survival.

After an exciting game drive, you’ll head to your camp/lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Tarangire – Serengeti National Park

  • Distance: ~250 km (5–6 hours drive)
  • Main Activities: Afternoon game drive
  • Accommodation: Lodge/tented camp in Serengeti
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

After an early breakfast, you will drive to Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s most famous park and home to the Great Migration. You’ll arrive in time for an afternoon game drive, spotting large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and predators like lions and cheetahs.

Highlights of the day:

  • The Great Migration (seasonal): Millions of wildebeest & zebras moving across the plains.
  • Big Cats Territory: High chance of seeing lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
  • Endless Savannahs: Stunning landscapes filled with wildlife.

After the game drive, you’ll head to your camp/lodge for dinner and rest under the starry African sky.

Day 4:  Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti

  • Main Activities: Full-day game drive
  • Accommodation: Lodge/tented camp in Serengeti
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Spend a full day exploring the Serengeti, one of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife reserves. You’ll start with an early morning game drive, the best time to spot predators hunting.

Highlights of the day:

  • Sunrise Safari: See lions, hyenas, and leopards at their most active.
  • Hippo Pools & River Crossings: Visit Seronera Valley and see wildlife around water sources.
  • Diverse Ecosystems: From open grasslands to acacia woodlands, every corner is teeming with life.

Return to camp for a hot lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive before heading back for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in Serengeti before heading to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You’ll arrive at the crater rim in the afternoon, enjoying breathtaking views of the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera.

Highlights of the day:

  • Scenic Drive: Amazing landscapes as you leave the Serengeti.
  • Maasai Bomas (Optional): Visit a Maasai village to experience their culture.
  • Sunset Over the Crater: Stunning views from your lodge or camp.

Enjoy dinner and prepare for an early descent into the crater the next morning.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater – Lake Manyara

  • Distance: ~60 km (1.5 hours drive)
  • Main Activities: Game drive in the crater & transfer to Manyara
  • Accommodation: Lodge/tented camp near Lake Manyara
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Wake up early and descend 600m into the Ngorongoro Crater, a wildlife paradise with over 25,000 animals, including the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo).

Highlights of the day:

  • Big Five Sightings: One of the best places in Africa to see black rhinos.
  • Hippo Pools & Flamingos: Large hippo pods and flamingo-covered lakes.

After a picnic lunch, you’ll drive to Lake Manyara National Park for an overnight stay.

Day 7: Lake Manyara – Materuni Village – Airport Drop-Off

  • Distance: ~130 km (3 hours to Materuni, then 45 min to JRO)
  • Main Activities: Game drive & cultural experience
  • Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

In the morning, enjoy a short game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, known for its tree-climbing lionshot springs, and flamingos along the lake.

Highlights of the morning:

  • Tree-Climbing Lions: Rare lions that rest in acacia trees.
  • Hippo Pools & Flamingos: Colorful birdlife and big mammals near the lake.
  • Groundwater Forests: Lush green forests fed by underground springs.

After the game drive, you’ll drive to Materuni Village, near Kilimanjaro, for a cultural tour.

Materuni Village Highlights:

  • Coffee Tour: Learn how to make organic Chagga coffee, from bean to cup.
  • Materuni Waterfall: A scenic 90-minute hike to a stunning waterfall.
  • Chagga Culture: Meet the local community and enjoy a traditional lunch.

After the visit, you’ll be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight home.
