Overview

This short yet thrilling tour offers a chance to see the Big Four in Mikumi National Park, Tanzania’s fourth-largest and most accessible national park from Dar es Salaam. Covering an area of 3,230 km² (1,250 mi²), Mikumi lies between the Uluguru Mountains to the north and the Lumango Mountains to the southeast. The park is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, lions, pythons, zebras, leopards, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park (By Train – SGR)

• Morning Departure:
  • Your journey begins early morning from Dar es Salaam. A driver will pick you up from your hotel or the airport (for late-night arrivals) and transfer you to the SGR Train Station.
  • Board the train for a scenic ride to Morogoro Region, approximately one hour.
• Arrival at Morogoro:
  • Upon arrival, our driver-guide will pick you up and drive to Mikumi National Park (about 1.5 hours).
  • Enjoy a late morning game drive followed by an evening game drive, where you will spot the Big Four and other amazing wildlife.
• Return to Dar es Salaam:
  • After your game drives, you’ll head back to Morogoro Train Station for your return train to Dar es Salaam.
  • Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, your driver will drop you at your hotel or the airport for your flight, if applicable.
