Northern Circuit Route (9 Days)

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by your guide and transferred to Moshi or Arusha. After check-in at your hotel, your guide will conduct a pre-trek briefing, review your equipment, and discuss final preparations. The evening is for rest and acclimatization before the trek begins.

After breakfast, you drive to Londorosi Gate for registration. A short drive takes you to the Lemosho trailhead, where the hike begins through lush rainforest, home to colobus monkeys and tropical birds. A gentle ascent leads to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m), also known as "Big Tree Camp."

A relatively easy day, allowing time for acclimatization. The trail gradually crosses the Shira Plateau, with panoramic views of Mount Meru and the Kilimanjaro glaciers. By early afternoon, you arrive at Shira 2 Camp (3,850m), where you can explore or rest.

The trek follows the "climb high, sleep low" principle. A steady ascent leads to Lava Tower (4,630m), where you stop for lunch and acclimatization. Then, you take a lesser-traveled path to Moir Hut (4,200m), a remote and peaceful camp with breathtaking sunset views.

Today, you take the Northern Circuit Route, a rarely used path that circles Kilimanjaro’s north side. You climb over a ridge and descend into the remote valley below. The trek leads to Buffalo Camp (4,020m), offering incredible views of the Kenyan side of Kilimanjaro.

The trek continues through high-altitude desert terrain, crossing small ridges and valleys. The trail eventually leads to Third Cave Camp (3,870m), where you prepare for the final push toward the summit.

A steep but short climb leads to School Hut (4,800m), the last campsite before summit night. After an early dinner, you rest and prepare for the most challenging part of the trek.

At midnight, you begin the final ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), passing Gilman’s Point (5,681m) and Stella Point (5,739m) before reaching the Roof of Africa at sunrise.

After celebrating, you descend to Mweka Camp (3,100m), passing through Barafu Camp for a short rest.

A final descent through lush rainforest brings you to Mweka Gate (1,640m), where you receive your summit certificate. A vehicle will transfer you to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a well-deserved rest.
